EF - Rock the Language
A Project by Mag. Margot Benko
March 2006

During this workshop students (6C) were introduced by Mag. Margot Benko to new ways of achieving language skills through listening and actively being involved in music and musical activities. The students listened to music and worked on the lyrics of their favorite songs. This gave them the opportunity to have lots of fun while achieving new language- and communication skills, building new vocabulary.

On the 27th of February, our class had a project called “Rock the language“.
At first, we couldn’t really imagine what it was about, but we soon realized that it was very interesting and funny!
At the beginning we played a game where we had to guess different songs by their texts, from German into English.
It was very interesting and astonishing, because it was often just a word or a single sentence by which we could identify the song.
We also did a role play in which we worked in pairs and one student had to act out missing words by making pantomime.
The first two lessons came to an end and the third and last began.
Our last exercise was to find pieces of world-famous pop songs like by Madonna, Robbie Williams, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many more!
It was certainly an interesting, varied project!!
